Senior Medical Sales Executive, Europe
 
Our client is a highly successful multinational company that enjoys a leadership position in the development and manufacture of pressure-sensitive adhesives, tapes, speciality films, coatings, and laminates.
 
Reporting to the Director of Medical Business, Europe the newly appointed Senior Medical Sales Executive, Europe will be EU based targeting customers predominately in the diagnostics and wound care sectors.  The primary function of this role will be to manage and build sales from both the existing customer base, also from acquiring new business through the identification of previously untapped sources.
 
Deals will vary in complexity and cost, from a simple order for a quantity of adhesive product worth a few thousand Euro’s to complete solutions worth several million Euro’s.
 
The Senior Medical Sales Executive will work with Director of Medical Business to develop new products, execute Business Plans and meet Business Area’s goals. Manages customers and requires up to 50%+ travel.
 
Job Spec :

Has European Sales responsibility with assigned territory and/or market responsibility
 
Makes identifiable and substantial contributions to continuous improvement through personal objectives and goals.
Responds to internal customer requests (ie: E-Mail, voice mail, etc.) within 24 hrs.
Actively sells company products and services by interacting with established and new target customers.
 
Actively works with key customers and/or converters to identify, enter and support new project opportunities.
 
Develops strategic sales plans, business plans and customer proposals which demonstrate and ensure
growth to meet Business  Area sales and margin goals.
 
Manages forecast of existing and new products by communicating that information within the company.
 
Provides monthly forecast update for Oracle.
 
Prepares company to accept an order and/or a developmental run.  (Includes securing and renewing orders, negotiating contracts, communicating lead times and delivery dates, and informing internal staff of customers' requirements.)
 
Confers with Director of Medical Business, Europe in the development of new product(s)  and/or project(s) as result of identifying new opportunities.
 
Informs customers of supply and price trends, and assists in inventory control. 
 
Confers with Director of Medical Business, Europe in discussions determining the strategic direction of products, markets and the Business Area.
 
Maintains records and prepare reports in a timely manner on all phases of sales activities.
 
Prepares and assists in managing tradeshows.

Active member of Project Team(s) in the Product Development Process.  Monitors and drives timely completion of key milestones in the development process.
 
Person Specifications:

You will be a technically qualified professional,B2B sales person, ideally selling into the wound care / diagnostics or medical device industries. Alternatively, you may be a sales professional from within the Automotive, Electronic or Pharmaceutical sectors, used to working on complex deals involving cutting edge technologies.
 
The ideal candidate will have a background in adhesives.  You will have an understanding of the different characteristics of adhesives, their different uses within the medical and pharma fields.
 
You will engage with clients across all professional levels from CEO and Senior Management through to Technical and Quality Management as well as Procurement.
 
It is anticipated that your time will be split:
 
25% preparation for client visits
50% in the field
25% following up and preparing presentations / quotations
 
To support your external sales activities and develop your network you will also have the opportunity to attend and speak at technical conferences, forums and exhibitions.

The Ability / Desire to Learn – Due to the complex nature and wide range of technologies and services Adhesives Research can provide it is essential that you have a clear desire to learn new skills and can bring a fresh approach to the role.
Creative Proposal / Quotation and Report Writing Skills – You must have experience of creating and delivering proposals ranging from simple quotations through to complex bids covering a multitude of solution options covering all of the value ranges mentioned above.
Excellent Presentation Skills – You will have clearly demonstrable presentation skills, showing the confidence and capability to address one person or groups.  You will have an engaging style and be able to share potentially complex information succinctly and with interest.
 
As the position is home based, covering the EU, you will be self-motivated with superb time management and organisational skills. You will be happy to travel extensively and to stay away from home as necessary.
 
As part of your ongoing development you will be expected to monitor and understand the trends within the market .  You will also ensure your understanding of the diagnostics and wound care markets is up to date including market leadership trends, company acquisitions,  emerging technology platforms and our customer’s IP arena  and FTO in the key markets you will operate in,  etc.
 
You will be in regular contact with the R+D / manufacturing teams in both Ireland and the USA and as such it is critical that you are a strong team player who can build effective business relationships within the team.
