Principal Automation Engineer, R&D Technology
Our client, an emerging med tech company, now seek a highly skilled and experienced engineer to join their growing team working on cutting edge platform technology for the Biotech industry.

The successful candidate will focus on leading automating, scaling and implementation of fully automated systems for cell engineering, anticipating cGMP deployment.

Ideally, this hire will have proven experience in managing a pre-commercial project through analysis, quality control procedures, design of experiments, measurements and instrumentation, satisfying regulatory requirements to commercial functionality / launch. Experience in liaison with quality and regularity resources is of key importance.

Responsibilities of Principal Automation Engineer, R&D Technology:
Lead the implementation of liquid handling and fully automated platforms enabling automation of ex vivo delivery of macromolecules including DNA, mRNA, protein and gene editing tools.
Lead, manage, hire and mentor a small team of process engineers.
Implementation of workflow and sample tracking.
Work with scientists to coordinate experimental design and execution.
Design, implement, and troubleshoot experiments, both independently and in collaboration with colleagues, to reach desired goals.
Continually seek out new technologies to enhance throughput and aid in workflow optimisation.

Requirements for Principal Automation Engineer, R&D Technology:
Qualifications:
Ideally Ph.D. in Engineering with 7+ years of relevant industry experience.
M.Eng. with 11+ years of relevant industry experience in automation, manufacturing and scale up.
B.Eng. is also acceptable, depending on experience.
Required Skills:
Extensive experience with designing, programming, and implementing filtering and liquid handling platforms into a high throughput environment to increase throughput and cell health.
Extensive experience with automation of cell based assays.
Experience with some or all of HiResBio integrated platforms, Hamilton liquid handlers, Compact SelectT, Pall Cross Flow Filtration units, Microfluidics.
Hamilton Scripting Language or equivalent and operation, HighRes Bio Cellario scheduling and programming in Visual Basic, C++, SQL a plus.
