Business Change Manager contract-based appointment

Job Spec.

The Business Change Manager designs and manages the successful delivery of the program’s overall change management approach and provides guidance and support to the program team. For this contract-based appointment, our client is looking for an individual who has led complex business change efforts in organisations. They want this person to share their emerging change ‘philosophy’ and leverage some of their associated frameworks and methodologies to deliver a consistent approach to Change Management and leadership across the organisation moving forwards. They are looking for individuals that have a bias towards the humanistic aspects of organisational change, in contrast with a more rigid / narrow focus on the process of change management.


Responsibilities include:

  • Agree overall change management approach and framework for the program
  • Work in partnership with key stakeholders and the Communications Lead to develop the case for change and related communications
  • Support the Program Lead and Workstream Leads in identification of change impacts
  • Work in partnership with the program team to deliver the change plan
  • As Change Manager/Workstream Lead for the Change Workstream, agree overall change management approach and framework for the program
  • Provide guidance, oversight, and support to the program team on change management related activities, and work with program leads to integrate change activities/plan into the program plan.
  • Preparing for change:
    • Development of case for change?
    • Facilitate current/future state assessment to articulate the change (As Is-To Be)?
    • Stakeholder identification and mapping?
    • Change impact and readiness assessments
    • Development of change plan
  • Managing change:?
    • Implement change management plans that include: a leader plan; a communications plan?; a learning plan?; resistance management plans
  • Reinforcing and sustaining change:
    • Make recommendations for measurement and sustaining activities; collect and analyze feedback, diagnose risks and gaps, manage resistance to change, implement corrective actions; track progress for the change initiatives and celebrate change success
  • Support the design, development, delivery, and management of communications related to the program
  • Work with the Program Lead and Workstream Leads in support of delivery of desired outcomes

Person Spec
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Change Management / Business Change best practice e.g. AIM, Consulting Change Methodology)
  • Change Management practitioner skills
  • Influencing, collaboration, communication, and facilitation skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Ability to positively resolve conflicts
  • Ability to coach and develop others whilst role modelling expected behaviours
  • Extensive experience of change management best practice and methodologies
  • Successful delivery of change management for large programs in similar organizations or across multiple clients as a consultant
  • Experience of dealing with ambiguity and complexity
  • Stakeholder management and matrix management, for successful delivery of project objectives
