Polymer Materials Engineer
required to develop and implement manufacturing business improvement projects and processes for an innovative world class medical devices manufacturer based in Galway.

This hire will lead less complex projects, to existing devices and manufacturing processes, independently with minimal supervision. These projects will involving; new technology introductions, ramping up production, undertaking validations, continuous process improvement and identifying potential development opportunities in the technology field.

Responsibilities of Polymer Materials Engineer:
Material research and selection, Vendor searches and ongoing contact.
Analyses process, product, material or equipment specifications and performance requirements.
Compiles and analyses operational, test and experimental data to establish performance standards for newly implemented or modified products / processes.
Troubleshoots new products / process working closely with product development.
Equipment/tooling design and improvements.
Continually seeks to drive / improvements in process design, layout and operational performance.
Production of prototype samples and development of final product specifications.
Transferring and implementing processes either from development or from another manufacturing facility.
Writing and carrying out validations / qualifications and technical reports and assessments.
Continued quality improvement including use of statistical tools to optimise the process.
Provides daily support of products, processes, materials, and equipment in order to achieve production goals (i.e., quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and safety).

Requirements of Polymer Materials Engineer:
Engineering Degree in Polymers, Materials, Chemicals or Biomedical Engineering.
3 to 5 year's industry experience in manufacturing, with broad experience of process engineering technology.
Strong theoretical & practical knowledge of core polymer processes including Extrusions and/or Injection Moulding.
Ability to develop highly capable manufacturing process from initial R&D concepts.
Knowledge of Polymers, along with applied statistical techniques.
Knowledge of material testing and characterisation would be advantageous.
Good knowledge of GMP and ISO9001 / EN46001.
