R&D Engineer, Biomedical devices
required to lead research of new devices from concept, to design, development in cleanroom, testing through animal trials, re-testing, process improvement, product delivery and into commercial manufacture.

The successful candidate will develop clinically relevant specifications, test methods and test fixturing to support design verification/validation activities to satisfy both regulatory and internal requirements. This role will Interface with Marketing, Operations, Clinical, Regulatory Affairs, Vendors and Physicians as required.

This role is with a dynamic New Product Development team based in Galway

Responsibilities of R&D Engineer:
Develops new ideas and technologies within an assigned product area.
Leads complex product development tasks.
Develops own work-plan for assigned tasks and works with project leaders to define and track progress against plan for all deliverables.
Designs, procures, and fabricates simple tooling and fixtures and develops new ideas and technologies within an assigned product area.
Product line support post commercial launch is required.
Co-ordinates activities of one or more technicians or engineers in an assigned phase of a development project
Interfaces with Marketing, Operations, QA, vendors and physicians.
Defines, prototypes, clinically tests and transfers new product to production.
Applies the Technical Development Product Development Process methodologies.

Requirements of R&D Engineer:
Honours Degree in Mechanical, Polymers, Chemical, Materials or Biomedical Engineering.
3+ years' experience in the health care industry, with minimum 1 year experience working with Design Dossiers, Technical Files, Product Specifications, Design FMEAs, Design Verification Protocols and Reports.
Proven experience in a hands-on approach toward product development using DOE and DFM techniques.
Proven track record of working in a fast paced environment with strong technical capabilities.
Capable of handling multiple development aspects of assigned projects.
