Job Description
Our client, a multinational healthcare manufacturer, now seeks a R&D Packaging Engineer who will manage design and co-ordination of packaging & labelling activities for New Product Development, which includes product package design, product labels, Direction for use, packaging specifications.
The remit of this role is the development and analysis of products, materials, processes, or equipment related to packaging across the plant.
Candidates must have a comprehensive understanding of Packaging & Labelling Design Element requirements within a regulated industry.
This is a 12 month contract role with view to going permanent.
Responsibilities for R&D Packaging Engineer:
Ensure all labeling and packaging components meet performance and FDA standards, including cGMP and all Country specific requirements.
Compiles, analyzes and reports operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified products, processes, or materials.
Communicate to Teams and Management on the progress of labelling and packaging projects
Liaise with Sister Divisions to ensure a consistent approach to labeling and packaging
Communicate with various internal departments on packaging related projects
Translates requirements for ISO 11607-1 & 2:2006 for customers requiring packaging for terminally sterilized products to internal product development teams and packaging personnel supporting these operations.
Develops and executes validation protocols for packaging related products.
Liaise with vendors on specifications for package and label components
Liaise with various translation companies for the translation of text used in all labelling and packaging components.
Requirements for R&D Packaging Engineer:
Honours Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline.
3+ years' experience in similar role within regulated industry, preferably with packaging / labeling standards.
Experience in package design, particularly thermoform trays barrier bags, corrugated and cartons.
Experience with ASTM 4169/ISTA testing preferred.
Familiar with sterile packaging materials.
Ideally candidates will be experience in either of the following; cGMP regulations, ISO 13485, FDA Design Control, CAPA, SCAR and audit procedures.
