Our client, an emerging Medtech company, now seeks a highly skilled and motivated Research & Development Engineer for the development and commercialization of their new novel cutting edge technology focusing particularly oncology applications. This is a permanent role based in the greater Dublin area.
This hire will work on the pre-pilot stage of the company’s technology through Product Development Life Cycle, i.e. from concept inception through development, process development and scale-up, life-cycle testing of components and all associated equipment and systems testing, in conjunction with engineering team and team of scientists.
The ideal candidate will be a Mechanical, Biomechanical or Medical Devices Engineer with prior experience in the development, manufacture and maintenance of electronic and mechanical systems in device development. Additionally, this hire will be experienced and show proven ability in working closely with peers and cross-functional teams.
This role will appeal to an experienced development engineer who enjoys working in a fast-moving environment, with the challenge of pioneering technology and scientific understanding towards innovative treatments.
Responsibilities of Senior R&D Engineer:
Lead innovation and complex product development tasks of company technology.
Provide engineering support to the scientific team in the conduct of studies using the devices Research, development and design of future iterations of the technology.
Prototyping and assembly of devices and test rigs.
Procurement of components for liquid handling devices.
Maintain and develop device Technical File including BOMs and build methods.
Design, implement, and troubleshoot experiments, both independently and in collaboration with colleagues, to reach desired goals.
Requirements for Senior R&D Engineer:
Honours Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree in Mechanical or Biomechanical Engineering.
5+ years R&D industry experience, ideally within life science sector.
Strong interpersonal skills and good presentation skills.
Demonstrable technical capabilities with Design Dossiers, Technical Files, Product Specifications, Design FMEAs, Design Verification Protocols and Reports.
Proven experience in a hands-on approach toward product development using DOE and DFM techniques. Expertise with FEA and CFD is required.
Proven track record of working in a fast paced environment with strong technical capabilities.
Ability to work well with a diverse team.
Adaptable and able to rapidly learn new techniques.
Effective communication skills (both written and verbal).
