Job Description
Our client, a multinational biopharma company, now seek a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Specialist to manage industrial emissions licence & liaising with EPA. This hire will be the site contact for EPA, Irish Water, SDCC and other regulatory authorities in accordance with IEL requirements.
The successful candidate will oversee the management of the WWTP and associated operations. Liaising with specialist contractors, and internal departments with regard to coordinating routine and non-routine environmental monitoring as required by the IEL.
The ideal candidate will be an SME in the area of Environmental Engineering / Specialist with experience in EPA management. The primary focus of this role is on Environmental as opposed to H&S.
Responsibilities of Environmental Engineer SME, Biopharma:
Maintenance and preparation of information databases and reports for submission to the EPA, Irish Water, SDCC and other regulatory authorities in accordance with IEL requirements.
Oversee waste management on site (both solid and liquid waste).
Ensure that environmental audit action items are addressed and closed out in a timely manner.
Develop and provide environmental and safety training as required.
Actively foster, in co-operation with other company personnel, an ethos and culture of safety awareness, where safety is accepted as an integral part of the overall business.
Investigate and manage any incidents that occur on-site and ensure that Accident Reports / Unplanned Events reporting forms are completed in a timely manner after an event.
Carry out regular safety compliance inspections to ensure health and safety procedures and policies are being implemented.
Ensure that safety audit action items are addressed and closed out in a timely manner.
Coordinate the approach and activities for the safe handling of all raw materials, key intermediates and active materials on site.
While working with all company personnel, contractors and visitors to ensure that all safety policies, procedures and regulations are fully adhered to across the site on an ongoing basis.
Requirements for Environmental Engineer SME, Biopharma:
Bachelors Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Management or Environmental Health & Safety or equivalent.
5 years’ experience in Environmental Management, minimum 2 years’ experience of which in an environmental role in manufacturing – preferably chemical/pharma.
Experienced in management of an Industrial Emissions Licence & Liaising with EPA.
Experience in the management & control of Air emissions & Wastewater & associated emission control technologies.
Experience of preparing reports for the EPA – Annual PRTR (Pollutant Release & Transfer Register), EDEN etc.
Experience in preparation of internal environmental metrics & corporate reporting.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills coupled with good ability to produce technical reports.
