Maintenance Equipment Engineer
Our client, a world class engineering company based in Galway, now seeks a suitably experienced Maintenance Engineer to provide group leadership for all maintenance interactions on manufacturing equipment on site, with cutting edge technology in Medtech industry.

The successful candidate will act as both a SME and a group team lead - directing, developing and executing maintenance programmes of complex manufacturing and test equipment. This hire will manage equipment failure outlining impact to business, recovery plan, and resources required.

The ideal candidate will be a group SME on the debugging and troubleshooting of PLC / PC hardware and software issues on manufacturing equipment. Proven ability to work with cross-functional partners in schedules planned maintenance activities for the manufacturing area, without negatively impacting on KPIs.

Responsibilities for Maintenance Equipment Engineer:
Liaises with Design Engineering to highlight equipment design related issues / opportunity for improvement.
Group SME on the debugging and troubleshooting of PLC / PC hardware and software issues on manufacturing equipment.
Acts as an escalation point for group technicians for Controls / Software issues on equipment across the site.
Generates weekly and Monthly metrics on Equipment downtime, MTTR, MTBF, Cost, Improvement activity, PM compliance, and resource management.
Manages spares usage.
Support Equipment Installation & Qualification and retrofits.
Drives the Area Improvement Team Meeting to deliver pre-determined goals.
Continuously drives the ‘up-skilling’ of Maintenance Techs.
Performs Equipment assessment and identifies subsequent improvement activity.
Maintenance team lead on new Equipment Introduction.
Co-ordinates maintenance activities for assigned support areas, maintenance point of contact for manufacturing.
Driving equipment continuous improvement activity within manufacturing area.

Requirements for Maintenance Equipment Engineer:
Honours Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline
5 years similar work experience in similar equipment engineering or maintenance engineering role.
Excellent PC / PLC hardware / software troubleshooting skills required.
Strong understanding of Controls systems (motion control, vision systems, robotics, plc, pc, and pneumatics) required.
A strong electrical troubleshooting competency would be an advantage.
Medical Device/ highly regulated industry experience desirable
