Manufacturing Director Dublin Pharma


Our client is a Dublin based FDA regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing operation. A newly created vacancy has arisen for a talented Manufacturing Director
With outstanding career development and advancement prospects, the Manufacturing Director is responsible for leading site manufacturing activities to deliver product on time, in full and with acceptable quality


Job Spec
  • Manage the manufacturing technical support team to streamline and optimise processes and systems
  • Define and implement manufacturing strategy in line with site & group objectives
  • Sets and manages operating budget for the manufacturing department in-line with site budget
  • Ensures safe, compliant, efficient and effective operation of manufacturing processes
  • Ensure compliance with Regulatory, cGMP (according to ICH Q7A), EHS and financial standards
  • Ensure that costs of production goods are kept under control

As a member of the Site Leadership Team, the Manufacturing Director will provide;

  • input to the development and delivery of site strategy and goals
  • promote cross-functional working by means of championing One Way of Being mindset within his/her own function and sitewide
  • be a champion of Operational Excellence in manufacturing and across the site
  • Promote an EHS culture within manufacturing ensuring that personnel adhere to safe work practices & standard operating procedures
  • Ensure manufacturing processes are effective, robust, cGxP & EHS compliant, validated and remain as such throughout their life cycle by managing change
  • Ensure that the manufacture of products is conducted in facilities and equipment which is clean, and where applicable, qualified, calibrated and maintained as necessary
  • Develop and manage the manufacturing department budget
  • Manage the manufacturing technical support team to provide technical support and process development to improve
    • efficiencies
  • Develop and implement a manufacturing strategy in alignment its factory of the future principles
  • Develop and ensure execution of the manufacturing plan via appropriate scheduling, organisation and resourcing
  • Ensure sufficient stocks and capacity exists to meet planned production outputs and customer demand
  • Build develop and mentor a high performing team. Recruit, lead, manage and develop people, ensuring that the team as a whole and as individuals have the necessary skills, knowledge experience, motivation and empowerment to perform their roles. Actively promote cross functional teamwork. Provide regular performance feedback, development and coaching to direct reports
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by utilizing Operational Excellence and empowerment. Direct manufacturing team to challenge existing processes and implement solutions that enhance the overall effectiveness of the manufacturing systems/processes
  • Ensure any needs/investments in relation to manufacturing are identified and supported by the appropriate business case and ensuring their implementation & validation
  • Establish and report on appropriate measurement tools/indicators, lead continuous improvement activities and ensure best practices are implemented by appropriate benchmarking to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, compliance and customer service

Person Spec
  • The preferred candidate will have a Degree/MSc in Science, Chemical Engineering or related discipline, with a successful track record managing & leading large teams in a GMP regulated Pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • You will have strong proven leadership and managerial skills and decision-making credentials with strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • With experience in using a variety of Lean Six Sigma tools, techniques and concepts, you will have a proven track record in transforming organisations and ways of working
  • Business acumen
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, technologies and constraints, strong awareness and understanding of GMP
  • Lean Six Sigma certified Green Belt
  • Strong finance and financial management knowledge and skills
