Job Description
Required to project manage supplier selection, supplier process & material changes and technical support for all purchased commodities for our client based in Cork.
This is a technical engineering role, with the hire becoming an SME in Materials Engineering exercising strong communication skills with vendors and significant project management abilities, both internally and externally.
The main purposes of this role are to minimise risks within the supply chain, new product introduction and achieving year-on-year material cost reduction targets.
Responsibilities of Materials Engineer - Supplier Management:
Support NPIs to the facility driving materials supply chain excellence from project due diligence to commercialization.
Supports investigation of Supply Chain Risk as they arise. Works with Quality, Procurement & Business Units to set resolution strategy and manage implementation.
Responsible for supporting material site objectives in terms of Quality, Cost and Service.
Supports Continuous Improvement of Quality & Quality Systems, Service Capability and Total Cost of Ownership throughout the Supply Chain.
Participates in the development and implementation of Global Commodity Strategies.
Completes technical capability assessment of potential suppliers to support formation of site strategy for new or existing products.
Develops new Supply sources with Procurement Team.
Assesses and Approves Supplier Requested Process Changes.
Identifies, Supports and Leads Material Value Improvement Projects throughout the Supply Chain.
Requirements for Materials Engineer - Supplier Management:
Honours Bachelor's Degree in Science or Engineering.
3+ years relevant work experience in similar role with track record in development of new supply sources.
Strong Project Management skills to manage Supplier and Material changes.
Material Science or Material Engineering background is advantageous.
Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification is desired.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
