Our client, an innovative engineering group based in Galway, seeks a Software Engineer who develops specifications, designs, plans and builds manufacturing and test equipment in the development of novel technology projects in equipment & tooling and Equipment Upgrades in support of commercial manufacture.
The successful candidate will contribute to all phases of software development including design, implementation, unit test, integration, release and validation support. Provide software input on design changes for new and existing systems aligning machine functionality to customer requirements.

Responsibilities for Software Engineer, Equipment R&D:
Contribute in projects in the development of tools in equipment designs and engineering systems.
Determines Project schedules and works with team and other departments across the plant to ensure adherence.
Manages projects and/or portions of projects as part of a larger team.
Participates on cross-functional Design Reviews.
Drafts and Review Design and Compliance documentation.
Develops robust, flexible, reusable, efficient and scalable manufacturing applications.
Database design, development, monitoring and script authoring.
Commission, test, troubleshoot and support existing and new manufacturing equipment.
Write detailed functional design requirements.
Generates quotations, concepts and business cases for new and upgrade equipment.
Ensures Equipment requests are processed in a timely and effective fashion and manage execution of results.
Requirements for Software Engineer, Equipment R&D:
Honours Bachelors Engineer Degree (NFQ Level 8) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar.
2+ years’ relevant experience in a similar role.
Good technical capabilities, communication skills, teamwork abilities and initiative.
Experience with VB.Net, C# and SQL Server script authoring using TSQL programming/ Database Design essential
Experience with Vision Development, Motion Control, Web Application Development and Software Change Management desirable
Proven ability to work well both as part of a team but also able to work on own with minimum supervision.
