Our client is an exciting, rapidly expanding cell engineering technology business, poised to make an important breakthrough in the next generation cell and gene therapies. This important, exciting role offers a unique opportunity to join a well-funded start-up, with field-leading advisors, and a highly experienced technical/operational team. Our client is currently developing the clinical (cGMP) technology embodiment while enhancing its dataset, implementing its commercialisation strategy, and building out the team.

The Role:
This high profile role is a unique opportunity for personal developmental growth supporting the Technology Transfer of our client’s technology to external parties, which include cell therapy product developers, cell therapy manufacturers and research organisations. Our client is supported with field-leading advisors, and a highly experienced technical/operational team. As a key member of the Process Engineering team, you will be focused on planning, executing, and overseeing transfer of our client’s technology while also serving as subject matter expert at external sites regarding the technology. You will work closely with our client’s project leadership team and collaborate with numerous external organisations and partners.

Our client is looking for a talented, highly motivated Tech Transfer Engineer to join their team in this critical, client-facing role. Leading the technology transfer programs to their clients located in North America and Europe. Reporting to the Senior Process Engineer on the Process Global Engineering team, the Tech Transfer Engineer will liaise directly with our clients, CMO’s in the field in support of key goals of the Technical Operations team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of engineering problem-solving techniques.
NOTE : Up to 75% of this role involves travel to clients located predominantly in North America and Europe

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with our client’s Project Leaders and external clients on the logistics and planning of Technology Transfer activities.
  • Support Technology transfer of product to external parties including providing technical background and documentation.
  • Support installation and operational qualification processes with external parties evaluating the technology.
  • Provide hands-on training and technical oversight at external sites evaluating the product.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot any mechanical, electrical, or pneumatic issues in support of external studies.
  • Support continuous improvement of our client’s technology and all related procedures and documentation.
  • Execute/participate in engineering tests and investigations, root cause analyses, risk assessments and various other tasks as needed in support of our client’s engineering goals.
  • Establish cross-functional relationships with staff e.g., provide technical support and expertise to the scientists on the Process Development team.
  • Significant travel (up to 75%) [SF2] will be required to external sites, primarily in the US.
Experience and Requirements
  • Degree level qualification in Product, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic or Biomedical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 3+ years industry experience in a role directly related to degree field.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal is a key requirement for this client-facing role.
  • Willingness to establish and maintain strong client working relationships.
  • Demonstrated engineering problem-solving capability and ability to diagnose root cause of technical issues using a logical, systematic approach.
  • Aptitude for working with/learning how to use standard pieces of engineering test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, pressure meters, various hand tools, etc.) in the course of regular duties.
  • Experience working in a cleanroom environment and/or knowledge of aseptic lab technique would be advantageous for this role.
  • Experience using PLCs and ladder logic also an advantage.
  • Capability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with scientists, engineers, and project managers.
  • Ability to maintain timelines and drive project execution to meet corporate expectations.
