Job Description

Vendor Materials Engineer
Required to project manage supplier selection, supplier process & material changes and technical support for all purchased commodities for our client based in Cork.


The main purposes of this role are to mimimise risks within the supply chain, new product introduction and achieving year-on-year material cost reduction targets.

Responsibilities of Vendor Materials Engineer:
Support NPIs to the facility driving materials supply chain excellence from project due diligence to commercialization.
Supports investigation of Supply Chain Risk as they arise. Works with Quality, Procurement & Business Units to set resolution strategy and manage implementation.
Responsible for supporting material site objectives in terms of Quality, Cost and Service.
Supports Continuous Improvement of Quality & Quality Systems, Service Capability and Total Cost of Ownership throughout the Supply Chain.
Participates in the development and implementation of Global Commodity Strategies.
Completes technical capability assessment of potential suppliers to support formation of site strategy for new or existing products.
Develops new Supply sources with Procurement Team.

Requirements for Vendor Materials Engineer:
Honours Bachelor's Degree in Science or Engineering.
3+ years relevant work experience in similar role with track record in development of new supply sources.
Ideally Supply Chain Project Management skills, managing Supplier and Material changes.
Material Science or Material Engineering background is advantageous.
Six Sigma certification is desired.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
