Bioinformatics Specialist, Programmer
Our client, a young and fast growing innovative drug discovery company based in Dublin, with novel platform technology which provides innovative solutions to help treat people with unmet needs, now seek to expand their team with a new post - Bioinformatics Specialist.

The successful candidate will develop bioinformatics software tools, interpreting and integrating large scale biological data while building rigorous statistical models for ingredient discovery and validation workflow. This hire will optimise and automate data extraction and integration and assist in implementing quality control and data quality monitoring procedures.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Computational Biologist with an in-depth understanding of biological data and advanced experience in statistics, big data analysis or other similar fields.

Requirements for Bioinformatics Specialist, Programmer:
M.S. required (PhD preferred) in mathematics or computer science. Additional qualification in biological field is preferred.
6+ years' experience in biological software and algorithm development, bioinformatics or chemistry software is highly desired.
Experience in artificial intelligence (including machine learning algorithms) or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Experience with biological data is preferred.

Required Technical Skills:
Algorithmic and Machine Learning techniques.
Programming: OOP and scripting in many languages (python is a big plus).
Statistics and R programming.
An understanding of standard bioinformatics tools (protein databases, alignments, etc.).

Desirable Technical Skills:
Skills in network administration and security (Linux).
Basic understanding of Subversion.
Databases (SQL) and Django framework.

Competencies:
Strong work ethic.
Ability to work on big projects as part of a team.
Good organisation and optimisation of working environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects and overlapping deadlines.
Natural ability to problem-solve.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal are required.
